Most of you know by now that Southeast is the direction we activate for wealth luck. What you may not know is that your prosperity luck can be influenced by many other factors as well.
If you remember, I have mentioned before that when you apply Feng Shui it doesn’t just work on one level. Every time you apply a Feng Shui cure or remedy, it works on many different levels. You do not have to understand all the nuances of these cures for them to work. Once you have applied the right cure in the right spot, it will start working and it will keep improving your life.
Now, going back to the wealth luck.
Your wealth luck can be severely compromised if your kitchen is in the Northwest part of your house.
Northwest direction is known as the Heaven’s gateway in Feng Shui.
This direction brings heaven luck in your life. It is also the direction of the Patriarch or the man of the house.
When you have a kitchen in the Northwest it brings fire energy to this direction. The fire energy can destroy the luck of the patriarch. As the father or the man of the house is considered to be the breadwinner of the family, his bad luck means bad luck for the whole family.
In addition to seriously hindering father’s luck, fire energy in the Northwest can lead to loss of family wealth as well.
Thus, in order to safeguard your wealth and the luck of the patriarch, avoid placing kitchen in the Northwest of your house.
If you are planning to build or renovate, then this tip can save you a lot of headache.
If your kitchen is already in the Northwest of your home, then you can apply some of these remedies to alleviate the situation:
- Ideally, try and move your kitchen to a different compass direction.
- If that is not possible then you can use blue or black bench tops in the kitchen.
- Try and move the cooktop away from the Northwest part of the kitchen.
- You can place a bowl of water near the cooktop too. Just make sure you keep the bowl and the water clean.
When you move into a house, the first thing that you need to lookout for is that the kitchen is not placed in the Northwest of the house. This is considered a serious flaw in Feng Shui and you will find that people who know Feng Shui will not buy a house with a kitchen in the Northwest.
Luckily, Feng Shui comes with a few Plan B’s 😉

Another thing to keep in mind is that you will need to strengthen the Northwest corner elsewhere in your home. As you have afflicted energy in the Northwest because of the kitchen, you will benefit the father of the house immensely if you strengthen the Northwest corner of the family room or the dining room.
If you have a kitchen in the Northwest, then chances are you have been feeling it’s negative effects in your life already. This could manifest in the form of loss of job, sickness or accident.
Check the direction of the kitchen once again, by using a good quality compass.
