When you buy a house, or buy furniture and decorative objects for it, do you realise that you are actually using the five element theory or their associated shapes, inadvertently?

There are five basic shapes associated with the five basic elements of Feng Shui.

Let’s have a quick look at the five elements that we use all the time in Feng Shui:

  • Wood
  • Water
  • Metal
  • Earth and
  • Fire.

Now, let’s have a look at the five different shapes associated with these five elements:

  • Rectangle shape is associated with Wood element and it is signified with growth energy.
  • The Wavy shape is associated with Water element and it signifies fluidity.
  • Round shape is associated with Metal element and signifies gold.
  • Square shape is associated with Earth element and signifies relationship and family.
  • Triangle shape is associated with Fire element and signifies upward movement.

Once you understand the shapes related to each element, lets move on and have a look at the compass directions related to these shapes.

  • Wood – Rectangle – East & Southeast
  • Water – Wavy – North
  • Metal – Round – West & Northwest
  • Earth – Square – Southwest & Northeast
  • Fire – Triangle – South

With this information, you can activate various sectors of your home. It is important to remember that balance is key in any space. You can use the elements, shapes and colours in your home and achieve wonderful results for everyone living there. Symmetry is also an important aspect to be mindful of. Irregular shapes create an imbalance and can also create missing corners, hence missing luck for the residents of a home.

Keep these basic principles in mind when building, buying or renting a house and enjoy harmonious relationships and a good life.

Share these tips with your family and friends and help them achieve more harmony and success in their life too.
