What do you think when you read this line – How to improve the Feng Shui of a house?

Even if you are not aware of what Feng Shui is and how it works, this line gives you a pretty good idea that we are talking about improving our lives by taking care of our environment.

The important thing to remember is that Feng Shui can improve your lives in leaps and bounds, and helps you achieve success in everything you do.

Let’s go into the details of how we can use colour to improve our lives.

Feng Shui uses different colours (and elements) to introduce a sense of balance in a space. When we use the colours and elements related to each direction, we create an environment that brings good luck, success and happiness to the individuals living in that space.

If your remember, I have talked about the five element theory with you before. According to this theory, you need to have a balance of the five elements in your environment. Every compass direction has a a certain element and colour associated with it.

We can use these colours to improve every aspect of our life and, we can also use these colours to focus on and improve one particular aspect of our life, if we wish.

Say, for example, you want to improve your career luck and wealth luck. You can focus on the directions that are associated with these aspirations, in this case it is North and Southeast, and apply the colours associated with these directions, White/Blue/Black & Green/Blue/Black and voilayou get the desired results.

Now that you have an understanding of how we can use colour to enhance any life aspiration, we will start applying this knowledge into our space.

  • The first thing to do is, work out the directions for each room. If you try and guess the direction, it can be wrong because the orientation of rooms can be very different to the main road or the direction you think it is in. Use a good quality compass to take directions. Stand in the middle of a room and then work out the directions.
  • Once you have worked out the directions, write them down in a notebook and then do step one for each room, writing the information down as you move to other rooms. You will find that the direction might move a little as you go through each room. Now that you have the required information about where the directions sit in each room you can start using the colours to enhance the luck of each direction.

  1. East stands for Health luck and the colours you can use are, Green, Blue and Black.
  2. West is for Children/descendant luck and the colours associated with it are, White and Metallic colours (Copper, Silver, Gold), Yellows and Browns.
  3. North is for Career luck and the colours that can be used are, Blue, Black, White and Metallic.
  4. South stands for Fame and recognition luck and the colours that can be used are, Red, Orange and Green.
  5. Southeast is the Wealth direction and the colours are, Green, Blue and Black.
  6. Southwest stands for Relationship and mother’s/lady of the house’s luck and the colours that can be used are, Yellow, Brown, Red, and Orange.
  7. Northeast is the direction for Education luck and the colours associated with it are, Yellow, Brown, Red and Orange.
  8. Northwest is associated with Mentor luck and father’s/man of the house’s luck. The colours that enhance this luck are White, Metallic, Yellow and Brown.

You can use the colours in your rooms individually, or use one colour in one room and the other in another room. It is totally up to you how you want to apply it.

We usually apply the enhancers (read colours here) in rooms where we spend a lot of time in. If you spend a lot of time in the family room, then make sure you enhance all the corners of that room so that you benefit from the energy and balance created by the colours used.

You can apply these principles in your garden as well.

Another thing to remember is that you do not have to go overboard while using colour. You can use a small decorative object and still achieve the desired results. So, before you decide to paint the whole wall red or green, think about your personal taste and style, and then apply these suggestions.

Feng Shui is a very versatile philosophy. You can adapt and mould it according to your personal taste.

You have to make sure that you love whatever object or colour you are using. If an object annoys you every time you look at it, then it creates negative energy. It is best to remove it. (This applies to people who annoy you as well, they create negative energy, you are better off removing them or yourself from the scene ;)).

Go ahead and apply these colours in your home decor and see & feel the improvement it brings in your life.

Make sure to write to me once you have applied any of the Feng Shui tips and let me know how it worked for you.

Feng Shui works every time you place an element or colour in your space. If it is not working for you, then it means you haven’t applied it properly. It could be that you got the direction wrong or the element/colour is not where it should be.

There could be another reason, and that is the Flying stars, which move around every year and every month as well. Sometimes some stars can create havoc in your life, depending on which direction they move to. These stars can be subdued and their effect nullified, by applying the right colour or elements.

If you have been going through a rough patch in life then you need to get in touch with a Feng Shui Consultant and they will be able to help you fix the problem and make things better again. So, don’t wait for your problem to get worse. Get in early and change the course of your life.
