What do you think?

Is it ok to use the dining room as your study or work table?

As you know, I talked about the work desk and how you can make sure that you can benefit from it by using some simple Feng Shui tips, in my last post.

Here is the link if you missed it:

Your desk holds the key to your creativity and success

Today, I am going to broach the subject of using the dining table, and for that matter any other table, as your work desk.

My Dining Table ?

With so many people working from home because of COVID pandemic it becomes important to really understand how the use of a space could be impacting you.

For starters, not everyone is lucky enough to have an extra room or a personal study room, to work from.

And, if you are lucky enough to have a room where you can work from, you might have to share the room with your spouse and that can be a bit hard if both of you have to attend meetings at the same time, right?

So, most likely a lot of you are using your bedroom, your dining table or the kitchen bench to do office work.

Now, is this ok based on Feng Shui?

Well, if you look at the room or space usage based on Feng Shui, it is better to demarcate rooms/areas based on its utility.

For eating purposes we have set out a room and called it the dining room.

For cooking purposes, the kitchen is the designated area, and so on and so forth.

Ideally speaking, it is better to use different areas for set purposes but if space is a constraint, you can use the same space for different purposes. Just make sure that you clean it up after using it and leave it ready for its original purpose.

For example, if you are using the dining table as your work area, make sure that when you finish work for the day, you clean up all the documents and place them on a side table, trolley or in a cupboard, and get them out again when you start work the next day.

This way you will be able to use the dining table for its original purpose, to enjoy your meals :).

When you leave stuff lying around, you tend to create a mess and over time the clutter builds up.

This mess can then lead to arguments and raised tempers.

This clutter can also impact your luck based on the compass direction it is in.

In order to maintain a sense of peace and happiness, as well as ensure that your luck doesn’t suffer, it becomes imperative that you have a routine set from start where you clean up straight after work finishes.

This will not only be good for the space and for your relationship, it will be good for you too, as you will then be able to switch off and focus on family time instead of thinking of work all the time.

Working from home can be very convenient but it can also mean that you forget to shut off.

Packing away your work stuff can really help with this problem and then you can enjoy your time at home :).

So, technically speaking, it is ok to use a space for a few different purposes, just make sure you leave it clean and tidy, ready to be used for its original purpose, once you have finished using it :).

Have a great weekend.
