Can you meditate?

I ask this question because there was a time when I could not even think about sitting down for meditation.

I used to say things like, “I am too busy to meditate” “I can’t sit still long enough” “I don’t need meditation” etc.

Now, 20 or so years later, something has shifted inside me.

A few years ago I started sitting down for meditation.

I am still not doing it every day but I love the peace and calm that comes when I do meditate, and I plan to make it a regular feature of my daily routine.

If you too are like me and feel that you are too busy to meditate, then start slow.

Don’t push yourself to sit for too long. It will scare you away.

Start with 5 minutes a day.

Sit quietly and close your eyes.

Just focus on your breathing.

It is very hard to empty your mind. Thoughts will keep coming. Just acknowledge them and let them go.

Bring back your focus on your breathing.

I find having some music playing in the background helps.

I have saved a meditation music track on Spotify and I use it every time I sit down to meditate.

Having the same music every time helps me get into a deeper meditative state quicker.

I must admit, I love those 10-15 minutes of meditation.

It brings such a sense of peace and calm to me.

I urge you to try meditating for a few minutes every day.

The more busy you are, the ‘more’ you need to stop and take time out for meditation.

You will see the benefits within a few days.
