Hey everyone!

I just got back from my morning walk and what a gorgeous day it is out there.

I usually park my car in the same area, which is near a set of apartments in Kingston, Canberra.

I occasionally see an elderly lady gardening in one of the ground floor apartments.

The entry to her home is always very inviting.

The area around the gate is always clean and there are rows of beautiful flowering plants.

Now, this person might not know anything about Feng Shui but she has created a beautiful and welcoming area for the chi or energy to enter her house.

Keeping your home and surroundings tidy is one of the basic principle of Feng Shui and it is also common sense, isn’t it?

So, this person has definitely used this basic principle and applied it really well in her surroundings.

If you think about it, the appearance of your main door is like a first impression that the energy gets of your house or office.

If it is a good first impression, then the chi/energy becomes happy and flows into the house happily.

If the first impression is not so great, then the energy will still flow in but it will not be full of happiness, instead it will flow in with a heavy heart.

The good news is that you can change the quality of the energy/chi instantly by making some simple changes to your main door and by moving things around.

As you know by now, the main gate of your home, office or business is where the energy or chi is entering the premises.

When it is clean and inviting, it creates powerful, fresh energy which is then carried into the building.

When this fresh energy enters a building, it brings growth, success and prosperity with it.

I want you to have a look at your front door and gate area.

What do you see?

Is it clean and welcoming?

If it is, that is great!

If not, what can you do to make it better?

Basic Feng Shui is very simple to apply. Once you get an understanding of how it works, you can keep using it in your home, office or business to bring amazing results.

So, let’s start with the first step that one should keep in mind when improving the Feng Shui of the front door.

Having an open space/area, no matter how small, just outside the main door is a great way of getting the energy to slow down and settle before it enters the building.

Similarly, it is good to have an area inside the main door too, where the chi can settle and then move on.

This slowing down of chi/energy helps make the energy more benevolent, hence becoming even more favourable for the residents living or working there.

Here is a list things that you can do and look out for, to improve the Feng Shui of your home, office or business by taking care of your front door.

  • Clean the area regularly, daily if possible, otherwise at least 2-3 times every week
  • Make sure you have healthy plants near your front door. These can be evergreen plants or flowering plants too
  • My recommendation would be to go with evergreen plants but if you are using flowering plants, make sure you always change the pots when they are not flowering and change them with a new lot of flowering plants
  • You can add put a wooden sculpture near your front door
  • Place a water feature outside the front door, towards the left side o the main door (standing at the front door, looking out)
  • Birds are always a good addition as they are considered bearers of good news in Feng Shui
  • You can place a pair of elephants there too. Elephants bring good luck, protection and wisdom to the residents
  • Avoid leaving your shoes near the front door. If you are in the habit of doing so then you can place an enclosed box or cupboard to place the shoes in
  • Check to see that you do not have extra stuff sitting/lying around near your front door which could be blocking the flow of energy
  • Stuff lying around can quickly become one of the main reasons of blockage in your day to day life. Best to get rid of it as soon as possible
  • Make sure that your front door is visible or easy to find. You can line the path with flowing plants to create a beautiful, guiding path towards the main door
  • The door should open easily. Fix any squeaking hinges or door knobs that are hard to open
  • The doorbell should be in good working order
  • Check to see if there are any sharp objects or corners near your front door. Cover up sharp corners by placing a tall plant in front of it and move any threatening sculptures from there
  • Leaving the light on for a few hours each night, both inside as well as outside, will help lift the energy of the area at night time too

Space Feng Shui uses a common sense approach when applied to a space.

So, put your thinking cap on and see how you can improve the feng shui of you front door and gate.

Once you do this, you will be encouraging more positive energy, hence more positive experiences into your life.

I would love to see how you have transformed your front door area and would love to share it with my readers too.
