In my last post I talked about the importance of maintaining the presence of Yin and Yang energies in a home.
Similarly, one needs to be aware of the importance of creating a right balance of Yin and Yang energies in the garden too.
It is quite easy to use different elements and colours in the garden to create balance and good Feng Shui.
Anything that moves or makes a sound is considered to be of yang nature. Things which are quiet and dark represent yin energy.

In order to have a good balance of Yin and Yang you can use garden features which move, like a whirlwind, and garden sculptures which are still.
You can make use of all five elements in the garden to create good Feng Shui.
You can use stones or boulders in corners where earth energy is beneficial, like in the Southwest and Northeast part of the garden.
Water element can be introduced in the form of a pond or a water feature. Keep the water feature clean at all times. Bird baths introduce water energy too and encourage birds to visit the garden, creating yang energy. You can use water in the front of your house and in the North direction as well.

Metal sculptures and wind chimes can be used to add interest in the garden. Metal can be used in the Northwest and West direction.
Wood is the element which is found everywhere in the garden. All your plants and trees fall in the Wood category. Make sure the plants are healthy and thriving. If you see signs of decay or rotting in a plant then you should take it out and replace it with a new plant. Same goes for trees and shrubs in the garden. Make sure that the trees are healthy and are pruned regularly. Wood element can be used in the East and Southeast part of the garden.

Fire element can be introduced in the form of lights in the garden. Do make sure that you leave a light on in your garden at night time too. Well lit gardens ensure that the energy doesn’t become too Yin at night. Fire element can be used in the South part of the garden as well as at the front of the house.
When your garden looks green and lush it brings growth energy to you and your home. Keep your plants flourishing and your life will flourish too.
