If you are in the market looking to purchase a house then you definitely need to read this post.

Feng Shui has certain taboos regarding houses built on top of mountains.

Usually people love living in houses which are built high up on hills.

The views are no doubt spectacular, and so are the prices 😉

So, why does Feng Shui not look at these houses favourably?

Well, there are a few reasons behind it and as you read along, you will understand why.

According to Feng Shui, when you live at the top of a mountain, hill or in a pent house, you are exposed to the fierce energies of the wind and you lack support, physically and symbolically in life.

These buildings do not have any protection and living in such houses will create bad luck for the residents, especially in the years when their personal astrological luck is down, meaning when the luck of their animal sign is negatively afflicted.

And, how do you know whether your animal sign has a bad year ahead of it?

It is usually predicted by Feng Shui Masters or astrologers.

Another of way of finding out about it is by actually experiencing it, which might not be a very good idea, hence, a word of caution before you decide to buy such a property.

And if you have already bought a property with spectacular views, perched up on a beautiful hill, then here are a few things you can do to make your stay more positive.

  • Make sure you have something higher behind, like a hill behind your house.
  • If there isn’t one, then you can plant a line of tall trees to create the symbolic mountain behind your house. This fixes the problem a little bit.
  • Avoid having a swimming pool in such a house. As you all might remember, water on top creates an imbalance and is a big no-no in Feng Shui.
  • So, if you live in a pent house or high up in an apartment, do not build a pool there.
  • Avoid having blue or black tiles on your roof too, as these colours represent water element.
  • Make sure you get a qualified Feng Shui consultant in and get his/her help.

Another thing to remember is that it is better to live in the middle part of a hill rather than at the bottom.

The reason behind this is to ensure that your home gets lots of yang energy and doesn’t get too much shade. This problem can be corrected by leaving lights on during the day as well, which creates yang energy artificially.
