Hi there!
In my last post I talked to you about the various Feng Shui points to keep in mind while looking at buying or renting an apartment.
Today, I am going to take a tour with you and go inside an apartment and see how we can make it more conducive and lucky for the residents, by using Feng Shui.

As mentioned earlier, you should first work out the orientation of the whole building, to work out the main direction of the apartment block.
Once you have done that, you can now move on to looking at the inside of the apartment.
Internal Feng Shui is equally important as the external Feng Shui. (Though, I personally feel that it is so much easier to fix the internal Feng Shui of a house, as compared to the external Feng Shui).
For people living in apartments, their personal space is confined to their own apartment and internal Feng Shui becomes even more important.
When living in an apartment or thinking of living in one, you should always follow the basic guidelines of Feng Shui.
BASIC GUIDELINES FOR APARTMENT INTERIORS:
- The front door is where the chi or energy enters the home. Make sure the area near the front door, both inside and outside.
- The area around the door should be well lit and open into a spacious area.
- The door can open inwards or outwards, though some Feng Shui consultants prefer doors which open inwards.
- If there is a wall as soon as you walk inside the front door, you can install a bright light there to ensure the chi stays alive and vibrant. Having a wall right in front of the door can cause the luck of the residents to be constricted.
- You can also install a mirror to double up the space, provided the mirror is not placed right in front of the door. If you have another wall next to the door, you can place the mirror there. If you do not have any option except hanging the mirror right opposite the front door, then do not use the mirror to fix the problem area, use a bright light instead.
- The flow of chi/energy should always be meandering. Do not have narrow corridors or straight areas where the energy gets a chance to become too fast.
- Avoid having too many doors one after the other. The front and back doors should not be aligned right in front of each other. This could lead to the energy exiting the house too fast and the residents of the house will not enjoy the benefits of the fresh energy entering the house. Try and fix this problem by placing a plant or a screen between the doors in order to slow down the chi.
- Make sure you do not have forgotten corners and rooms in your apartment. Open up windows and let fresh chi enter each room to revitalise the energy of each room.
- If you are out of your apartment all day long then make sure to leave a radio or television playing music so that the energy of the apartment doesn’t become too yin.
- Potted plants and pets add the much needed yang energy to a space too and you can use them very effectively.
- Check for poison arrows hurting areas where you spend a lot of time, and fix them. If you have a favourite spot where you sit and watch Television, make sure there are no protruding corners or beams, sending negative energy towards you or any other family member. Fix this problem by hanging a wind chime, a crystal or covering the corner or beam with a sheer fabric, a plant or a hanging mobile.
- If your apartment has multiple stories, make sure that the energy travels to all the levels. Staircase Feng Shui becomes very important in such cases.
- Make sure the staircase is not placed right in front of the main door.
- Keep the area of the staircase well lit.
- The staircase should not be too narrow either. If they are too narrow, try and hang a mirror to create the illusion of more space. Remember to follow the general guidelines while using mirrors. They should not reflect the front door directly or any thing that has negative energy attached to it, like a bath room or toilet. The mirror should be placed such that the tallest person of the family should be able to see himself/herself, without having to bend. Or in other words, the mirror should not cut off their head when they stand in front of it.
- The apartment ceilings should not be too low. If they are too low, keep the rooms well lit.
- Keep the apartment well lit and clean all the time and you will enjoy the benefits of good Feng Shui.
Generally, one can feel it if something is not right in their apartment/home, or their life keeps deteriorating over time, since their move to the apartment or house.
This is usually because of the imbalance of energies in a house plus the incompatibility of the person with the house.
This can be easily fixed by using Feng Shui.
