Hey everyone.

Today I am going to introduce you to a lovely lady.

Her name is Emma O’Sullivan.

I have known Emma for almost a year now and just love her work. Emma is a ‘daily success strategist’ and is very passionate about helping other women to achieve balance in life, by teaching them tools and strategies to achieve more in less time. She helps them streamline and simplify their lives so that they can enjoy more freedom and satisfaction in life.

I got in touch with Emma a few days ago and asked her to write something for all of you. I know she has helped a lot of people by giving them tools and strategies to improve their work-life balance and thought it would be great to share her expertise here with you too.

If you are a hard-working person, then Emma’s suggestions will help you streamline your life more efficiently and will give you a chance to enjoy your life with your loved ones.

Before we go into the tips shared by Emma, let’s have a quick look at what Feng Shui has to say about the role of effort in our lives.

Feng Shui talks about three kinds of luck that every person has in their life.

These lucks are:

1). Heaven luck also known as Destiny, which includes birth chart readings, astrology etc

2). Earth luck or the space you live in, which also means the Feng Shui of your space

3). Mankind luck or what kind of a person you are? Do you give up easily, thinking that whatever is happening is predestined or are you a person who goes all out to create your own destiny?

A lot of people think that their lives follow a predestined path and they cannot change it.

I beg to differ. I am of the view that if you are willing to put in all your effort, then nothing can stop you from achieving what you want in life.

Even though Feng Shui can help you a lot by creating the right environment conducive to creating success and happiness in your life, you have to remember that you still have to put in the effort to achieve what you want in life. You are the driver who steers his or her life. You should have a clear picture of your destination and then you work towards achieving it.

The tools and strategies shared by Emma should help you focus on what you need to change in your day-to-day life, to achieve the results you are after. When you apply the principles of Feng Shui, with a 100% personal effort, then you can achieve anything you put your mind on.

Let’s have a look at what Emma has to say…

Emma O’Sullivan – Woman on Fire

As busy professional people doing the work-life juggle, achieving ‘balance’ is something many of us crave. In fact, the topic itself has become a bit of a meaningless buzzword.

What in fact is balance?  And how do you acquire it in a world where we are often told we can ‘have it all’ if we just figure out a way to ‘fit it all in’.

Well, if you’ve tried to fit more than what will go into your home, you know it’s not a workable strategy for balance and harmony, let alone productivity! Instead all it does is create clutter, confusion and imbalance in our external (home) AND internal (mind) environment.

I believe that’s because we’re under the mistaken assumption that ‘fitting it all in’ or doing a little bit of everything will achieve balance. People are also often looking for balance through the allocation of time.

But as well-known productivity experts such as Brendon Burchard point out, people feel out of whack when there’s an imbalance about how they FEEL.

In Feng Shui there are two important principles that are hugely relevant to solving this problem not just for your home, but for your life and the quality of your experience as you go about living it it.  Broadly speaking Feng Shui places importance on ‘virtue and character’ and ‘education and effort’. In other words, how you decide to conduct your life and how you choose to use the knowledge you have. And this is probably where I see most clients fall down in their quest for balance and a better life.

They have no idea what’s truly important to them (values and priorities) and they have no strategy on how to apply what they know to actual actions that will achieve actual tangible results in their world.

Think about it.  We all pretty much know what we need to do to fix a problem (e.g., eat healthier) but we struggle with closing the gap between what we KNOW and how we behave.

So here are three principles I teach my clients that you can apply in your life to achieve meaningful balance and authentic success.

I call them the 3 Cs – Choices, Control and Consistency.

  1. Choices – In every moment we have a multitude of choices at our disposal.  But we often fail to leverage them because we haven’t spent the time understanding and clarifying what is truly important to us. Know what you stand for!  Define your top 3-5 values in life right now. (http://womanonfire.podbean.com/e/how-to-create-instant-success-in-your-life-now/)  When you are clear on that you can make choices that support your priorities instead of undermining them.
  2.  Control – When you are clear on your values and priorities, the next step is to learn how to master your attention so you can better focus (http://womanonfire.podbean.com/e/how-to-focus-your-attention-like-a-real-woman-on-fire/) on what’s truly important to you. Often we are so busy operating on autopilot that we don’t even realise we’re reacting to other people’s agendas or devoting our time and energy to the wrong things.  In a world addicted to speed and information overload it’s becoming harder than ever to focus. But you must practice this skill and protect your attention if you want to achieve your goals.
  3.  Consistency – Most people fail because they never bother to stick at something long enough to see results.  Or they leap into grand actions and gestures that they can’t keep up over the long term. Or they make a plan which does not support them to take action. (http://womanonfire.podbean.com/e/why-you-cant-stick-to-your-plan/)  Now that you know what’s important to you, pick one new action or behaviour to do CONSISTENTLY until it becomes a habit. The accumulative effect of consistent small actions will always trump bigger actions taken rarely.

Remember, it’s your life. If you don’t define what balance and success looks and feels like to you, someone else will! Take the time to get clarity on what you really want and then take small steps to close that gap between what you value and how you behave.

As human beings we have a lot of choices in front of us. Our life, ultimately, is a direct result of the choices we make. So focus on your priorities and work towards it consistently, and pretty soon you will reach your destination.

Have a lovely day.

Much love.
