Let’s have a look at Site selection and why it is important to get a Feng Shui consultant to have a look at the piece of land or house you are planning to buy.
In Feng shui terms, Site selection refers to the process of evaluating the energy or “qi” of a particular location/land before constructing a building or choosing a place to live in.
The goal is to find a site with favourable energy flow and harmonious surroundings to support the well-being and success of the inhabitants.
Feng Shui combines a blend of practical observations, traditional wisdom, and intuitive assessments to determine the most favourable site for a specific purpose.
Here are some key points to keep in mind when doing Site selection:
Landforms: The shape and features of the land are really important in Feng Shui. Ideally, the site should have a gentle slope or be located on a higher ground to allow good energy flow. Avoiding irregular or sharp landforms, such as steep cliffs or jagged edges, is recommended as they can create negative or disruptive energy.
Water: The presence of water, such as rivers, streams, or lakes, is considered auspicious in Feng Shui. It is believed to attract positive energy and symbolize abundance and prosperity. However, the water should flow smoothly and not be too turbulent or stagnant, as it may create negative energy. The size and the direction of the flow of water is also very important.
Environment: The surroundings of a site can significantly impact its Feng Shui. It is desirable to have a balanced and harmonious environment with lush vegetation, gentle hills, and open spaces. Avoiding sites near busy highways, hospitals, cemeteries, or other sources of negative energy is advisable.
Energy Flow: The flow of energy, or qi, is crucial in Feng Shui. The site should allow for a smooth and meandering flow of energy, rather than stagnant or rushing currents. Obstructions such as large buildings, tall trees, or other structures that block the energy flow should be minimized. The same goes for inside a house or building. Creating a smooth flow of energy helps create a smoother life for the residents.
Orientation and Directions: The orientation of the site and the directions also play an important role. In Feng Shui, different directions are associated with specific elements and energies as well as different life aspirations. For example, a site facing east is believed to receive the energy of the rising sun and is associated with new beginnings, health and vitality.
Individual: Once the basic principles of site selection have been achieved we then look at the person/persons who are going to live there. In Feng Shui it is important to match the energy of the house/building with the person. A house that is good for a Female or Male born in 2002 might not be good for a Female/Male born in 2012. That is why not every house brings good luck to every person who lives there.
For those of you who have tried Feng Shui and have seen positive results, you will understand what I am saying. For those who haven’t used Feng Shui, you don’t know what you are missing out on. Feng Shui can improve your health, money luck, relationships, success and so much more.
Do remember that the practice of Feng Shui site selection and other Feng Shui applications/principles can vary among different schools of Feng Shui and individual practitioners. Try not to mix different schools of Feng Shui. Once you understand the basic principles of Feng Shui then you will be in a better position to pick and choose different aspects from different schools of thought.
I was fascinated by Feng Shui when I first started reading about it some 30 years ago and I am still fascinated by it, especially when I see the amazing results it brings for my clients every time.
If there is one thing that you should have FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) about, it should be from not using Feng Shui!
