I thought I would take you back to the basics of Feng Shui today.
I remember when I first heard about Feng Shui it was through a tip in the newspaper which Mum read out to me.
These Feng Shui tips were simple to apply and that was the reason I started using/applying them.
At that point I had no idea what Feng Shui could help achieve but I didn’t see any harm in placing a figure of a horse in the South or placing fish in the Southeast.
As time went by I started reading more and more about Feng Shui and some things became clearer while some things became more confusing :).
If I had to get you started on using Feng Shui then the first thing you would need to know would be how to take directions.
- To start with, you will need a basic compass (You don’t need to rush into buying a Feng Shui compass just yet).
- Next, stand at your main door as if you are about to go out (but don’t go out)
- Take the first compass reading at this point.
- Then, take a few steps backwards and take your second reading here
- And the third reading can be taken by taking a few more steps backwards.
- Once you have these three readings, take their average and you will get your main door direction.
Generally speaking, a variation of a few degrees between the three readings is normal.
But, at times the variations between the directions can be up to 15 degrees or more.
If that is the situation then you need to take a closer look at the energy of your home. This is an indication that the energy of the house is seriously out of balance.
This big variation in the readings could be due to a number of factors either inside or outside the house.
For example, if your house is built too near a big electricity transmission tower or power line, the electromagnetic field will affect the compass readings.
Similarly, if you have too much Metal element near your front door area, the compass readings will get affected.
If possible, move the Metal element away from the door and then take directions.
It might be almost impossible to do anything about the electricity tower or power lines, unless you decide to move houses.
You will find that a Feng Shui compass is far more sensitive compared to a basic compass.
It might be an idea to use the basic compass if you have been finding it hard to get an accurate reading with your Feng Shui compass.
Experience also comes in handy in such situations.
If you have not been able to get an accurate reading because of any of the aforementioned reasons, you might want to get a Feng Shui expert in and get their help.
Once you know the main door direction you can work out all the other directions for your home, office or business.
This piece of information is crucial for you to start doing your own Feng Shui.
Working out the orientation of your house is the first step towards unlocking the full potential of Feng Shui.
Armed with this information, you can start applying all the simple Feng Shui tips in your home, office and business premises.
Feng Shui is very symbolic and it’s main focus is on the energy of a space.
When the energy of the space is harmonious with the energy of the person or people living in that space, that is when magic starts to happen.
The good news is that we can create this harmony between the house/building and the residents, by Feng Shui’ing the space.
Once the Feng Shui magic dust has been sprayed in your home, your life will start improving.
Some aspects of your life might improve quicker than others, but you will start seeing a shift in the quality of life.
And after a while, this shift in your life will become a norm for you and you will start looking for new ways to add more dash of Feng Shui magic in your life.
Luckily for you, Feng Shui has a lot to offer and you can keep improving different aspects of your life by adding more Feng Shui tips.
