In Feng Shui, we talk about using five elements, namely, Wood, Water, Earth, Metal and Fire.

These five elements are used all the time to enhance or activate a direction, or subdue the bad effects of a direction.

Let’s have a look at the various cycles these elements follow. There are three cycles that we use while applying Feng Shui. These are:

  • The Productive cycle
  • The Exhaustive cycle and
  • The Destructive cycle

Today I am going to talk about the Productive cycle.

Each of the Element in this cycle creates or produces another element, hence the name Productive cycle. The Productive cycle follows clockwise direction as well.

So, Wood element creates Fire element, Fire creates Earth element, Earth creates Metal element, Metal creates Water element, and Water creates Wood element.

We can use this cycle to improve the Feng Shui of any space.

Let’s take an example, say you are looking at enhancing the East sector of your house. We know the element of East is Wood. So we can use Wood element in the East, and we can also use Water element here, as Water produces Wood. This, Water is good for wood.

Similarly, if you were going to enhance the West sector of your house, you would look at the element of West, which is Metal, and then look at what produces Metal and use that element, which in this case is Earth.

Have a look at the cycle I have provided here and try and memorise it, and then you will be able to apply the elements to different sectors of your home.
